*Contrary to assumption's of digital imagery used in Erykah Badu’s new music video for the song “Window Seat,” the songstress did in fact go au natural in public for the Coodie Rock-directed clip.
In the video (scroll down to watch), Badu is featured prominently as she takes off her clothes while walking through downtown Dallas. By the end of the clip, Badu is totally nude.
The singer later falls to the ground after being shot in the head at the same location where former President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963. Instead of blood coming out, Badu bleeds blue while animated words spell out “groupthink” from her head when she collapses on a sidewalk.
Since its premiere over the weekend, the “Window Seat” video has encountered mixed reaction among viewers. According to Badu, the idea to go nude came on the spur of the moment.
Check out the video.
“We only had 1 shot to get it right,” she tweeted Sunday (March 28) night on Twitter. “We didn’t plan the shot. Coodie and I just went raw dog. Too busy lookin for cops and being petrified.”
While it may seem to have taken quite a bit of time, Badu admitted to quickly taking off after shooting the entire stripping scene in a couple of minutes.
“The people caught in the shot were trying hard to ignore me,” the vocalist tweeted. “Lol, [except] one guy grabbing [my] clothes. … He disappeared. Didn’t have time to look for him or clothes. We ran.
“Window Seat” is the first single off Badu’s new album, “New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh.” The album, which features production from Ahmir “?ueslove” Thompson, 9th Wonder, James Poyser and the late J. Dilla, among other is currently available in stores.

Erykah Badu Takes it All Off in 'Window Seat' Video
Commonly described as one of the more eccentric contemporary songstresses, Erykah Badu's latest video will surely keep people talking. Badu casually strips off her clothes as she takes a stroll through the streets in the video for her latest single 'Window Seat' off her upcoming album, 'New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh).'
Starting off in a dark trench coat and sunglasses, the singer peels off layers of clothing, revealing a tattoo on her upper back that reads "Evolving" and winds up completely nude before being shot down.
The video -- directed by Coodie Rock and inspired by Brooklyn-based duo Matt and Kim -- ends with Badu explaining that "they who play it safe are quick to assassinate what they do not understand."
Check out the video.

THE SUGARHILL GANG @ MOHO LIVE, TIB ST, MANCHESTER | Tuesday, 25th May 2010,
Possibly Moho Lives biggest ever gig... Tickets on sale on Monday from 9:00am!!!
Possibly Moho Lives biggest gig so far sees rap legends The Sugar Hill Gang play a massive 30th anniversary concert.
This once in a lifetime concert will feature an exclusive full live set from all the original members of the band.
Coming from the Bronx in New York City in 1979, the Sugarhill Gang jumped over the metaphorical walls of the inner city and into the realm of the mainstream with the first worldwide rap smash hit, "Rapper's Delight". Although rap and hip-hop music had existed for quite a few years prior to The Sugarhill Gang's rise to fame, it had failed to move out of the areas heavily populated by black families in the 60's and 70's.
The Sugarhill Gang are still believed by many to be the first professional rap group because they brought this "new" style of music to the general public, and eventually sold over 8 million records. This helped to pave the way for future aspiring rappers while bringing a cultural practice into the mainstream to reach a wider audience.
The concert will also feature some of the cream of artists they have influenced.
● Educated Thugz
● China White (Ft Rowetta)
● The Mouse Outfit.
● Drunken Monks
● C Dub Soundtrack

What Will My Summer Style Be?
Summer is upon us! Yes!
Now that leaves me with a problem..I have to figure out a summer hairstyle! I pretty much live in Hell's furnace (Alabama) and I know for certain that I will not wear my hair down everyday. It's too hot for all of that. I know I will probably bun but I want something I little more low maintenance. I'm thinking about just getting cornrows and calling it a day. More to come on at as I make a definite decision.
Also....:trumpet fanfare: I have hit my growing season! Woo-hoo. I have recently discovered that my hair grows slower during the fall/winter months and faster during the spring/summer months. I figured this out the other day when I was washing my hair. I realized it took considerably more effort to get through my hair-well more effort than expected to only be 6 weeks post. Once my hair dried, I noticed that I have bunches of new growth! So with that said, I plan to take full advantage of this. Hopefully, I can retain every bit of growth I get and (eventually) get to APL!

I've Come a Long Way, Baby: 2 Years Into My Healthy Hair Journey
I don't really like to post pics of my hair before I started taking care of my hair. Simply put: it was a mess. My hair was so thin and brittle and I didn't even realize it. I thought it was supposed to be like that. I noticed something was wrong when I saw that my hair was breaking all over the place. In the morning when I would unwrap my hair, I literally had a sink full of hair plus more hair all over my bathroom floor. This was a problem. I googled hair breakage and I stumbled onto LHCF.
That was March 2008 and my hair looked like this:
Ugh. My crown was all broken. It is a wonder I had hair on my hair at all. At the start of my journey, I didn't relax for 8 months. I kept my hair braided mostly or up in a phony pony. I would wash and DC weekly and my hair thrived. However, my ends were still kinda raggedy. :/
I did a lot of product experimentation during this time too. By the time November rolled around, my hair had thickened up again. I decided to relax (it was the lesser of 2 evils for me, at this point I was pulling out my flat iron everyday to straighten and I didn't want to do that). However, I was still unsatisfied with my ends. I decided I would cut my hair into a little bob, like this:
That style lasted all of 2 months before I decided to cut my hair into the cut that you have seen so much of on this blog. I admit that for me, cutting my hair and starting from scratch has been the best thing I could've done for my hair. It allows me to learn how to take care of my hair as each stage of growth and provided an opportunity to start over without the massive damage my hair had at the start of my journey.
Well folks, there you have it. I wonder what the next 2 years of my journey will bring! :)

Needed a Reality Check...
Well really I needed a length check. I hadn't done a length check since December and I have been wearing my hair in protective styles for so long (had it in a bun of some sort for about 4 weeks and did a flexirod set this past week) that I began feeling like my hair wasn't growing. Yeah, I needed to do a length check today.
Sooo....I came home today and washed my hair with my beloved Elasta QP Creme Conditioning Shampoo (SN: I tried using all natural shampoos but they strip the heck out of my hair, I think the sulfate-free options are my best choice). I then DCed with ORS Replenishing Conditioner, put in my Jane Carter Solution Revitalizing Leave In, and then proceeded to blow dry and flat iron.
The top picture is from December and the bottom is from today, March 11. My hair is definitely making progress slowly but surely.
Well....now that I've indulged myself (ha ha), I will probably wear my hair out tomorrow and put it back up on Saturday. I haven't decided yet. My hair probably won't be out longer than 3 days though. I'm starting to see that there is something to this low manipulation/protective style thing after all!

Tinie Tempah debut tops UK singles chart
Tinie Tempah is a South London rapper with all the right Brrap Pack connections (Dizzee, Chipmunk, DJ Ironik.)
This debut single is a far-from-tinie (tee hee hee) fusion of d&b, electro, US R&B, ska and even a bit of rave courtesy of producer Labrinth.
Tempah makes a swaggering first impression, boasting about everything from his collection of G-Shock watches to his exploits with your daughter and vowing to toast his success "until we pass out".

Oh, and in case you were wondering, he's Patrick Okogwu as far as passport control's concerned.

Best of all, there's an endearing Britishness to his rhymes that you just don't get from the likes of Akon. "I got so many clothes," he brags at one point, "I keep 'em at my Aunt's house". Aww, wonder if she's got them colour co-ordinated?

Wyclef's Wife Finds Nude Photo of Former Manager
Celebrities can't seem to learn their lesson when it comes to keeping racy photos under wraps. Trina recently took her leaked photo situation to the FBI, and now the New York Daily News reports that...
Wyclef Jean has found himself in a bit of a tiff with his wife over a racy photo of his ex-manager.
According to the Daily News, Wyclef's wife, Marie Claudinette Jean was not too thrilled when she recently discovered a nude photo of Clef's former manager Lisa Ellis on her husband's cell phone.
Wyclef and Ellis ended their professional relationship three weeks ago. An insider reportedly told the paper that "Claudinette flew into a jealous rage.
She jumped to the conclusion that something may be up between Wyclef and Lisa. She told Lisa to stay away from her husband. To embarrass Lisa, she also e-mailed the nude picture to a number of people in the music business."
An embarrassed Ellis immediately responded to the rumors, insisting that her relationship with Wyclef has been strictly professional. She explained that the black and white photo in question, was a professional portrait taken some time ago. "Photographer Mark Baptiste took a portrait of me in December 2008 for an art book," she said. "It was tastefully done. Someone leaked the photo. I don't know who did it but the photo had nothing to do with my resignation as Wyclef Jean's manager."
A source close to Ellis claimed that she parted ways with Wyclef because the former Fugees frontman was not taking her advice on work related matters.

Guru's Friends and Family Question Solar's Power of Attorney
Those following Gang Starr rapper Guru's falling out with his former partner, DJ Premier, have probably suspected that something strange is going on with the recovering MC.
Guru, born Keith Elam, recently underwent surgery after suffering a heart attack and slipping into a coma.
His care was left to "superproducer" Solar, an allegedly "manipulative" figure who maintains an unsavory influence on the rap legend, according to Guru's friends and family.
A recent YouTube video made by Guru's nephew, Justin Nicholas-Elam Ruff, alleges that Solar kept the family in the dark about the rapper's illness for two weeks, and continues to keep them at a distance, refusing Elam's own mother to visit him.
"Since the information leaked, Solar has completely cut us off," Ruff said in the video. "My family has no way of knowing what is going on with Guru's situation. Solar has complete control over the flow of information given from the hospital, and will not disclose any information with us. The doctors and staff won't discuss any information with Guru's family."
With the hospital giving Solar what seems to be Power of Attorney -- allowing him to make some very serious decisions about the sick rapper's future, should Guru lose consciousness again -- Guru's family is attempting to hire a lawyer to change the situation. Settling the power struggle could take weeks.
Guru allegedly released a statement after regaining consciousness, saying that he is awake and getting healthier. "Solar is the only person who has the accurate info on my situation," the statement continued. "Any info from anybody else is false!"
The statement aroused suspicion in those close to Elam, including DJ Premier's friend and label manager Gordon Franklin, who has publicly questioned Solar's intentions. "I wanna hear from the person or persons who Guru (allegedly) spoke those words to," Franklin said. "Better yet his doctor ... so they can look me in the face and tell me he woke from his coma and uttered those very words quoted in the quote ... or even better ... hear it from the horse's mouth ...
This is an extremely sad situation. We will continue to report on Guru's condition as we learn more, but in the meantime, view Guru's nephew's YouTube video here.

Snoop Dogg Wins Latest Battle in UK Ban
Snoop inchs closer to gaining entry into the UK in his long-running battle with UK Home Office British border Agency.
The rapper, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, was originally banned from the country in 2007, forcing him and fellow rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs to cancel the British dates of their European tour. The ban was triggered by Snoop Dogg’s arrest at Heathrow airport in 2006 following a scuffle involving members of his entourage. In 2008 the ban was lifted but when the UK Border Agency challenged the decision, it went to an Asylum and Immigration Tribunal.
Earlier this week, the tribunal announced its decision that to deny him entry had been wrong.
“We are disappointed by the tribunal’s decision in this case,” a UK Border Agency spokesperson said today, according to Reuters. “We are studying the determination carefully and will take a decision whether to appeal.”
In 2007 he pleaded no contest to gun and drugs charges in the United States. The same year he was barred from entering Australia after failing a character test.

The Best Thing You Can Do For Your Hair: Getting the Healthy Hair Diet, pt 2
So let me start off this post by saying that my diet is by no means the perfect diet. I love sweets and I have a certain soft spot for Starbucks and Chick-fil-A. Nevertheless, I try to eat well most of the time. Additionally, there have been times in my life where my eating habits were terrible (mainly: undergrad and the 1st year of grad school) and it reflected in my hair. My diet (in addition to poor hair care practices) left my hair dull, brittle, thinning, and broken.
Below I will list certain healthy hair nutrients and foods you can eat to incorporate them into your diet. Please keep in mind that this list is not all inclusive. For the sake of length, I have chosen to keep it short and keep it to the basics.
Protein: We all know that protein is the building block of hair. Therefore, it makes sense to eat enough of it. Incorporating enough protein into your diet ensures that your hair is strong. If you find that your hair is brittle or weak, ensure that you are eating enough protein in addition to upping your protein based product use. Foods: Poultry, lean meats, Fish, Nuts/Seeds, Yogurt, Peanut Butter, Grains (like bread or pasta)
B Vitamins (Niacin, Panthenol, Vitamins B6 and B12,etc): These vitamins are essential for healthy hair growth and play a role in preventing hair loss/breakage. They can also help prevent premature graying. Foods: poultry, beef, fish, eggs, whole grains, beans, seeds, peas, nuts, leafy green vegetables, fortified breads and cereals.
Vitamin E: Plays a role in healthy circulation (increases oxygen uptake). Foods: asparagus, avocado, egg, spinach, whole grain foods.
Vitamin C: Plays a role in immune function, which ultimately leads to healthy hair (makes sense, when you are sick, you hair doesn't look its best). Also a cofactor in the synthesis of certain molecules (e.g.-collagen). Foods: Citrus, berries, kiwi
Vitamin A: Important at the level of your scalp-keeps hair follicle lubricated. Foods: Sweet Potatoes, Carrots, Collard Greens, Mango, Broccoli
Biotin: This is another B vitamin but it is so essential to hair growth. It protects against dryness and helps in the elasticity of hair (which ultimately can reduce breakage). In addition, biotin deficiency can manifest itself as hair loss. Foods: Eggs, Liver
Minerals (Iron, Copper, Zinc, Magnesium): Some play roles in hair growth (Iron) while others play roles in hair loss (zinc, copper). Don't underestimate the importance of these minerals because they have huge roles in hair structure (at the protein level) and growth. Foods: Legumes, Poultry, Fortified breads and cereals, green leafy veggies like spinach
Water: Provides moisture to hair (self explanatory I suppose). Try to drink as much water (around 8 glasses daily, more if you are active).
To summarize, just pay close attention to what you are putting in your body. Learn how to read food labels and keep away from the junk foods as much as possible! Don't feel like you have to eat a set amount of healthy foods daily or that you have to deprive yourself. Just try to eat a healthy diet filled with various foods. Also, try to limit your sugar and caffeine intake (which isn't easy and is something I struggle with DAILY). Your hair will definitely thank you for it.

The Best Thing You Can Do For Your Hair: My Observations and Personal Experience, pt 1
This particular blog has been on my mind for a while now. Lately, I have noticed that when it comes to hair care a lot of people, myself included, focus on the topical things they can do. Even when giving advice, we focus on what we can do for our hair. Don't get me wrong, deep conditioning, washing often, and moisturizing have done wonders for my hair. However, I think one thing that should receive more recognition is nutrition. It has become evident to me that when your nutrition is on point, it reflects in your hair, skin, and nails.
I came to this revelation via a stumbling block in my own healthy hair journey.A couple a weeks ago, I wrote a post about how I had been shedding a lot lately. I even purchased a conditioner to help with it. Then I thought of something. I have always been a shedder for as long as I can remember. I also remembered that back in high school I was told I am mildly anemic. This means that I have low iron in my bloodstream.I never really did anything about it and suffered through being cold and lethargic all the time. Could this be tied to my excessive shedding? Well, I looked it up and iron is an important mineral for healthy hair! Iron plays a role in healthy circulation and when you have enough of it, you get enough circulation to the scalp which equals healthy hair. When you don't have enough iron, your circulation will be focused on the most necessary of functions (e.g.- getting blood to your organs and other living tissue). Of course! This makes perfect sense. From then on, I began focusing on getting more iron into my diet, without the help of supplementation. For that reason, I eat a LOT of chicken and turkey. I also eat a lot of whole grain cereals (Frosted Mini-Wheats is my favorite). I have definitely noticed a MAJOR improvement in my shedding levels.
What are some other nutrients you should be aware of and how can you incorporate them into your diet? Stay tuned for part 2

Rapper Guru in a Coma After Heart Attack
Rapper Guru, whose real name is Keith Elam, is in a coma after suffering a heart attack, according to reports.
The artist, who rose to fame with the duo Gang Starr before a string of successful solo records, is scheduled to undergo surgery today.
Guru, 43, has kept a low profile since his last solo album, “Lost and Found,” was released in May 2009. The album ended a two-year break following his fourth Jazzmatazz album, “The Hip-Hop Jazz Messenger: Back to the Future.”
Gang Starr never officially broke up but hasn’t been active in more than five years. Its last album was 2003’s “Ownerz.”
This is indeed a tough time for his family and friends and we wish that Guru gets well soon.

Whitney Houston’s Rep Responds to Health Rumors
A publicist for Whitney Houston released a statement today addressing Internet reports that suggest she is in ill health based on several video clips that show the singer struggling to hit notes. [Watch clip below.]
Although video postings of her recent performances in Australia have been less than flattering, Houston’s publicist, Kristen Foster says her tour is going well — and she’s in great health.
That view contrasts with news reports quoting disgruntled fans complaining about the star’s voice and performance.
Houston’s tour started in February in South Korea and will take her to Europe until at least May. Foster said there currently are no plans for a United States leg.
Meanwhile, Radar Online reported this week that Whitney had a diva moment at the Brisbane airport when her limo driver showed up two minutes late.
According to reports, the rehabbed singer shouted, “This is bull—!” as she waited for her ride, “but she didn’t save her ire for the driver,” the paper’s Gatecrasher column reported. “When a man kindly suggested Whitney chill out and enjoy the sunny morning, she allegedly told him to ‘mind your own f— business.’”
Below, irate fans at her Brisbane concert vent to Australia’s 7 News.
