New Amy Winehouse songs may be released posthumously

*Amy Winehouse will continue to live on through her music. And at least a dozen unheard tracks are sure to keep her spirit alive.

A spokesman close to Universal, the mother company of the singer songwriter's label, Island Records, said the singer had put down the "framework" of around a "dozen" new songs.

Although Winehouse had not released any new material since releasing the Grammy-award winning Back to Black in 2006, she had been sporadically recording for the last two and a half to three years, he said.

"Amy had expressed an interest in getting back into the studio, and after some consultation everyone thought that would be a positive thing and a distraction from the other things she was dealing with," he said.

“She had put down the bare bones of tracks and some were further along than others.”

He added that the tracks she recorded were “really good” and sounded like her old self.
It had been since 2006 that Winehouse released anything and folks were beginning to get excited about the new music.

The problem is, most of the music she recorded were in the early stages and need a bit more development to turn into tracks.

in various live appearances in the past two years Ms. Winehouse is not believed to have played any new material. In July 2010, she said in an interview that her third album would appear in January this year, a deadline that passed with no release.

"The album will be six months at the most," she said, saying the sound would be similar to the soul-infused "Back to Black." "It's going to be very much the same as my second album, where there's a lot of jukebox stuff and the songs that are ... just jukebox, really."

Amy Winehouse Found Dead

Amy Winehouse Found Dead

*Amy Winehouse, the beehived soul-jazz diva whose self-destructive habits overshadowed a distinctive musical talent, was found dead Saturday in her London home, police said. She was 27.
Winehouse shot to fame with the album “Back to Black,” whose blend of jazz, soul, rock and classic pop was a global hit. It won five Grammys and made Winehouse — with her black beehive hairdo and old-fashioned sailor tattoos — one of music’s most recognizable stars.
Police confirmed that a 27-year-old female was pronounced dead at the home in Camden Square northern London; the cause of death was not immediately known. London Ambulance Services said Winehouse had died before the two ambulance crews it sent arrived at the scene.
“I didn’t go out looking to be famous,” Winehouse told the Associated Press when “Back to Black” was released. “I’m just a musician.”
But in the end, the music was overshadowed by fame, and by Winehouse’s demons. Tabloids lapped up the erratic stage appearances, drunken fights, stints in hospital and rehab clinics. Performances became shambling, stumbling train wrecks, watched around the world on the Internet.
