NY Fashion Week Lookback: One of my friends, Janel LaFleur, Launched JLaFleur Designs There! Congrats!

Congrats to one of my fashion friends/FB friends, Janel, who has launched JLaFleur Designs, a women's line specializing in Old Hollywood Glam styles. She's based in Detroit and I did a shoot with her late last year, and that was for my first magazine cover!

Congrats Janel! Big ups to you and your line! I'm inspired by her, which is one of the reasons why I started my tie line, Vintage Ties by JAIDEN Detroit.

Actress Viola Davis Moves Up Social Ladder; Sits Between Guru Stylist Andre Leon Talley and Vogue's Anna Wintour

VIOLA DAVIS is on the move!

She was spotted at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week/ New York Fashion Week with her husband, and sitting between Anna Wintour from VOGUE and Andre Leon Talley, one of the bigwig stylists. must be really nice to sit between two fashion powerhouses.

By the way, Viola Davis is now a world-renowned actress after she won an Oscar for her outstanding performance in movie 'The Help.' Viola was also featured on VOGUE not too long ago.

RACHEL ZOE (stylist) and ANNA WINTOUR (editor of Vogue) In Furs At Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week!

I don't care what PETA may say... but I have a penchant for FUR, and unless they offer me some money, I will publicly announce that I will stop wearing FURS, but until then, I'm wearing my soft and lustrous furs, yo!!!

Check out Rachel Zoe (above) in her mink coat. The round and somewhat menacing sunglasses paired with her all-black attire and gold jewelry makes her slightly GANGSTER, which I like.

The same for Anna Wintour (below), editor of VOGUE Magazine, who sports her signature bob with her unique fur coat that seems to envelope her, especially around her hips and then it curves around her knees; good tailoring. I'm also feeling the pleated hunter-green leather gladiator skirt. Gives Anna an 'Old Money' look.

ZOE SALDANA In Shimmering Prabal Gurung Couture For New York Fashion Week

Zoe Saldana is one hott actress/model... who knows how to dress. Believe it or not, but Zoe Saldana (mostly) handpicks her own clothes rather than having stylists. Zoe is featured above in head-to-toe Prabal Gurung couture, which she wore to the Prabal Gurung Fall 2012 fashion show.

I'm liking the shimmer of the silk blazer and pant set, along with Nicholas Kirkwood heels. FIYAH, Zoe!! She's keepin' it cool! Pants with heels have always been a great combo...

JAIDEN Likes: JASON WU Fall 2012 Collection, Including Collection for Target Stores

Right around this time is the highly-anticipated NEW YORK FASHION WEEK, where thousands upon thousands, if not millions of people are coming from all around the world, just to see what the best designs of the U.S. have to offer. Hundreds of designers are churning out their best designs, in hopes of getting selected by a buyer.

Here is JASON WU's Fall Collection that's just crazy good. Great use, fit-and-finish of otherwise simple materials. Take a look:

And the JASON WU collection is currently on racks at Target stores (not this exact collection, but something similar).

... and while the following pic is not from the Jason Wu collection, it still stirs up something comical about fashion to me. check out this KATE SPADE ensemble:
