Possibly Moho Lives biggest gig so far sees rap legends The Sugar Hill Gang play a massive 30th anniversary concert.
This once in a lifetime concert will feature an exclusive full live set from all the original members of the band.
Coming from the Bronx in New York City in 1979, the Sugarhill Gang jumped over the metaphorical walls of the inner city and into the realm of the mainstream with the first worldwide rap smash hit, "Rapper's Delight". Although rap and hip-hop music had existed for quite a few years prior to The Sugarhill Gang's rise to fame, it had failed to move out of the areas heavily populated by black families in the 60's and 70's.
The Sugarhill Gang are still believed by many to be the first professional rap group because they brought this "new" style of music to the general public, and eventually sold over 8 million records. This helped to pave the way for future aspiring rappers while bringing a cultural practice into the mainstream to reach a wider audience.
The concert will also feature some of the cream of artists they have influenced.
