After shocking defeat at Sunderland during the lacklustre Christmas period, Manchester City has recovered its attacking flair to earn a 3-0 win over predictable rival Liverpool at Etihad Stadium on 3rd January 2012 thanks to goals from Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure and James Milner. The English Premier League clash is the best offence in the league which features Premier League's best defensive side Manchester City and best attacking side Liverpool. The victory has helped Manchester City to move up to 48 points at the top of the English Premier League table and put some distance between themselves and Manchester United on New Year's Day.
Liverpool opened the match with Jordan Henderson's accurate throughball after just seven minutes which was denied by a fine reaction save from Joe Hart. At 10th minute, a move started as Milner dispossessed Dirk Kuyt, found David Silva with a short pass and Sergio Aguero’s 20-meter shot passed Reina's diving body into the back of the net. Man City did not have to wait long for their second goal. Due to carelessness, Glen Johnson did not get close to Yaya Touré and the Ivorian midfielder headed Manchester City’s second goal beyond the Liverpool keeper. At 75th minute, James Milner scores Man City’s third goal from a penalty after Yaya Toure had been brought down by Martin Skrtel.
