Oscar 2012 Nominations: Complete List and 84th Academy Award Predictions

Martin Scorsese's adventure film “Hugo” which explores the early days of cinema from a child’s point of view led the 2012 Academy Awards with 11 nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director while “The Artist” earned 10 as George Clooney and Meryl Streep emerged as frontrunners for best actor and actress. The nominees for Academy Awards 2012 were announced on Tuesday morning, January 24 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater by Tom Sherak, AMPAS president, and Oscar-nominated actress Jennifer Lawrence. The 2012 Oscars will air on February 26, 2012 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California and Billy Crystal will serve as host for the evening, replacing Eddie Murphy, who was originally slated to host.

The full list of nominees for the Academy Awards were revealed on Tuesday morning in Los Angeles by Tom Sherak, AMPAS president, and Oscar-nominated actress Jennifer Lawrence

The 2012 Oscars takes place on February 26, 2012 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California, hosted once again by Billy Crystal

Martin Scorsese’s Paris adventure “Hugo” which took the highest number of nominations (11) of the 84th Academy Awards is also set to expand at US theatres

… followed by the silent, black-and-white film “The Artist” with 10 nominations. This French silent film recently topped the Golden Globe film nominations with six nominations including best picture, comedy, best director and best screenplay

The other nominations for Best Picture are The Descendants, The Help, Midnight in Paris, Moneyball, The Tree of Life, War Horse and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

Alongside with “War Horse”, Brad Pitt’s “Moneyball” was given six nominations: picture, actor in a supporting role (Jonah Hill), actor in a leading role (Brad Pitt), adapted screenplay, film editing and sound mixing

“The Descendants” also receives five nominations including Best Picture, Best film editing, Best actor in a leading role (George Clooney), Best director (Alexander Payne) and Best adapted screenplay

“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” picked up five pieces: actress in a leading role (Rooney Mara), cinematography, film editing, sound editing and sound mixing

Followed by “Midnight in Paris” with four nominations

“Transformers: Dark of the Moon” won three nominations including sound editing, sound mixing and visual effects

Two-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep also picked up her 17th Oscar nomination for Best Actress for her portrayal as Margaret Thatcher in “The Iron Lady”…

… while Golden Globe winner George Clooney got his fourth performing nomination, for Best Actor in "The Descendants” which also receives five nominations including Best Picture

Katherine Heigl Headlines Caper Comedy “One for the Money”

Katherine Heigl is headlining for “Money” in a new caper movie that is based on the best selling-book series featuring Stephanie Lum, a divorced, unemployed woman who becomes a bounty hunter to pay the bills. Dr. Izzie Stevens on ABC's Grey’s Anatony star said that she just loved Stephanie once she read the first book. The Emmy award-winning Heigl revealed that she loves doing romantic comedies and wanted to laugh and believe in true love and romance.

The actress made her debut in movie “That Night”. Before landing her break-out role in Grey’s Anatony, she co-starred as Isabel Evans in Roswell and My Father the Hero. She gained most attention for her role Dr. Izzie Stevens on ABC's Grey's Anatomy from 2005 to 2010. Heigl has starred in numerous films including Knocked Up, Zyzzyx Road, 27 Dresses, New Year's Eve, The Ugly Truth, Killers, and Life As We Know It. She also has established herself as a cover model.

Katherine Heigl is headlining “One for the Money,” that is based on Janet Evanovich’s best-selling novel about a broke, single woman who becomes a bounty hunter to pay the bills.

At the premiere of her film at AMC Loews Lincoln Square in NYC, the actress paried her Herve L. Leroux dress with Jimmy Choo heels, Sethi Couture earrings, and Ferragamo clutch.

One for the Money also features Jason O'Mara, Sherri Shepherd, Debbie Reynolds, and Daniel Sunjata.

The former “Grey’s Anatony” star has headlined several romantic comedies including “The Ugly Truth” and “27 Dresses”.

Katherine Heigl won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress – Drama Series for her role as Dr. Izzie Stevens in Grey's Anatomy.

The 33-year-old actress has also established herself as a cover model for many publications like Maxim, Cosmopolitan, and Vanity Fair.

Most Anticipated Movies in 2012 (Part 2)

If the year of 2010 welcomed 3D's return to the big screen, the year of 2011 was all about Ryan Gosling ("Drive," "The Ides of March," "Crazy, Stupid, Love") and book sequels (“Twilight” and “Harry Potter”). So with Twilight and Harry Potter taking the box offices by storm in 2011, what are the most anticipated movies released in 2012.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (part 2) follows the aftermath of Bella’ pregnancy. She adjusts to her new vampire lifestyle and half-vampire hybrid Renesmee.

The movie is set to be release on November 16, 2012.

Those who are interested in aliens and summer blockbusters may be satisfactory with “Men in Black III”. The upcoming 3D science fiction comedy film will be released as the sequel to “Men in Black II” on May 25, 2012. The film will feature ensemble cast, including Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones.

Under distribution by Columbia, “Men in Black III” is scheduled for release on May 25, 2012 release in theaters.

The Hunger Games is an action-thriller movie. Based on the best-selling novel by Suzane Collins, the series takes place in a futuristic world where the Capitol selects a boy and girl from 12 districts to fight the death on live television.

The Avengers is based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. The movie features Robert Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, and Jeremy Renner.

The Avengers is set for release on May 4, 2012.

“Haywire” directed by Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh also stars actors Michael Douglas and Michael Fassbender. It is set to storm theaters on Friday, January 20, 2012 and promises to entertain audiences from start to finish.

Although Channing Tatum is just one among a series of handsome guy starring in the movie “Magic Mike,” he is a professional fashion model and an exotic dancer. Therefore the actor didn’t need much advice from his wife Jenna Dewan to be always outstanding.
