The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office has come to a conclusion about the shocking death of Heavy D – the cause is a pulmonary embolism. In addition, the legend rapper also suffered from heart disease which is considered to be a contributing factor to the rapper's death as well. One day before Heavy D's death, his brother Floyd Myers said that he was unaware of Heavy D's heart disease. Heavy D was 6 feet 3 and weighed more than 300 pounds at one time, but his weight was not a factor in his death. Heavy D's brother emphasized that “Heavy was in great shape. You guys seen him at the BET Awards, and he just did the tribute to Michael Jackson; they flew him out to London to do that. Heav was in good shape, healthy, no heart problems. He constantly made sure that his health was in check”.
The L.A. County Coroner's Office said that the deep vein thrombosis was likely formed during he time Heavy D was traveling from London to the tribute night for Michael Jackson. Deep vein thrombosis, specifically, is a blood clot forming in a vein deep in the body in the lower leg or thigh, mostly during a long airline flight when passengers are frequently sitting for extended periods of time.
It’s possible that the blood clots formed in Myers’ legs during a long flight he made from Europe to California and heart disease led to Heavy D’s death on November 2011
Just days before Heavy D’s death, Heavy D kept a positive attitude by posting on the last tweet, “BE INSPIRED!”
According to Los Angeles County Department of Coroner, the 44-year-old rapper died of a pulmonary embolism, deep leg vein thrombosis, and arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease. He was found collapsing at his Beverly Hills home on 8 November 2011
After passing away, Heavy D had reportedly seen a doctor for a persistent cough after a recent trip to London. The conclusion showed that his death was “natural” and prescription medicine may have been taking was not a factor
