Jamie Foxx has been announced as the host of the Michael Jackson tribute concert.

The Oscar winner, who provided vocals onKanye West’s 2005 smash Gold Digger and has released four albums of his own, will also perform at the event.

"I am truly honoured to be working with Global Live Events and the Jackson family members in participating in this epic event," Jamie said. "Michael was larger than life and I have admired him, honoured him, joked about him but always loved and respected him... I hope I honour his legacy in a way that would make him laugh and cry."

Leona Lewis, JLS, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Craig David are among the big names confirmed for the tribute concert, along with another new name, Smokey Robinson. The event takes place on 8 October at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium.

Beyoncé's management this week denied reports she was pulling out of the event due to her pregnancy, and instead promised a "unique, never before seen performance" that will be played via satellite to the crowds in Cardiff.

Although the tribute concert isn’t officially endorsed by the Jackson family, Michael’s motherKatherine and his children, Paris, Blanket and Prince Michael, have said they will attend.

Paris, Blanket and Prince have decided to go,” their rep confirmed. “They are extremely excited and are hoping they will have the opportunity to contribute in some way by making a speech.”
